I will need a new cutlass bearing shortly. The guy(approved marina contractor) who will be doing the work insists that he obtain the parts, fortunately he doesn't add to the costs from a s a p so I tend to humour him.
However, he is not as thorough as he should be, my mention that he should be prepared to check the engine alignment and adjust the feet if required was given short shift. In the past I have done the job myself but I am too old and inflexible to do it now. With the other boats the process was to split the half coupling and check the alignment of the 2 faces and adjust the engine so that there was nothing more than a 4 thou gap at any point. Is 4 thou the target maximum for the Arvor set up?
